Hekatestation.net Update and LHOHQ

A few previous posts here have discussed the website Hekate Station, which appears to be some sort of ARG or puzzle. In the past couple of days, someone had suggested watching the YouTube channel Selfish Dream, and the person who owns this channel seems to be the one who created the site. He also has a personal site at Selfish Dream, which has his portfolio of work.

Some ARG-type sites don’t feel that interesting, but this one, due to the fact that not many people have talked about it, is a little stranger than most. If you go by the videos, which are sorted into a playlist, it appears to draw on both Biblical references as well as Greek mythology. Hecate, according to Ancient History Encyclopedia, is a Greek goddess representing ideas like witchcraft:

Hecate (Hekate) is a goddess of Greek mythology who was capable of both good and evil. She was especially associated with witchcraft, magic, the Moon, doorways, and creatures of the night such as hell-hounds and ghosts. She is often depicted carrying a torch to remind of her connection with the night and in sculpture with three faces, representing her role as the guardian of crossroads.

The person who created the website (and presumably the YouTube channel) updated the site not too long ago as well. The brown triangle on the front page now leads to a new page, containing a number of other links, as well as more password-protected files:

Many of the images and bits of text on this page are clickable and lead to other pages, as on the previous version of the site. The gray triangle in the upper left corner and the cat at the bottom contain more zip files. The link that says “pop” leads to a directory of many other pages:

Many of these, in turn, connect to other pages with more encrypted messages and such. If you’re stuck at home due to quarantine, this is certainly one of the more fascinating sites you can spend time checking out.

It’s worth noting that Selfish Dream also has a playlist called “LHOHQ,” which is yet another bizarre “rabbit hole” website with dozens of links. Calling it a “puzzle” seems like a bit of a stretch, as it appears to be more a collection of conspiracy theories, but it, like Hekate Station, is at least fascinating.

Take the message on the front page, for instance:

Laughing Horse’s Orifice is dedicated to the highest possible quality product. Our standards of excellence always involve our vision to grow our product going forward, and to ensure our Corporate Vision is always our top priority.

The “contact” page, while it does have an email address (orificce@lhohq.info), leads to yet another bizarre rabbit hole. Just as on Hekate Station, there are numerous clickable links which go further into the maze. The YouTuber blameitonjorge, who often talks about subjects like these, has a good video summing up the site:

In any case, both of these are fun distractions for those who are still under quarantine or severe social distancing restrictions right now. There’s definitely a lot more to these puzzles than has been listed here, so they might be talked about in future posts!
