New Tor Social Network: GuanXi

It’s been some time since the topic of dark web social networks has been covered here. In May of 2020, the founders of Psycho Social Network created a new site called GuanXi, which is not only available on Tor, but also I2P (guanxi.i2p) and OpenNIC (guanxi.libre). The latter can be accessed via the Blockchain DNS plugin, which a much earlier post, Blockchain DNS on Mobile?, mentioned.

As on the original site, many users post images of gore (the types of things you’d see on Best Gore, etc.) and things like that, so be aware of that if you decide to register for the site. There is also the occasional nude pic or hentai pic, which won’t be shown here!

GuanXi uses scripts similar to the Facebook APIs, and therefore it looks akin to Facebook. It has functions like People, Pages, Groups, Events, Blogs, and Movies. As on PSN, it’s more or less an uncensored version of Facebook, though it looks a bit less ghoulish than the original. In the Movies feature, users often upload adult films and horror films, though because the site is still new, the movie selection is limited. Whatever the case may be, it seems that the site is gaining popularity.

It should be noted, however, that if you have Tor’s security settings on “high,” the site won’t function, as it blocks JavaScript. If this makes you uncomfortable, then this probably isn’t the ideal social network for you. In addition, the site does require a “first name” and “last name” for registration, but there’s no rule that says you have to use your real name. “Grim Reaper” or “Dark Hacker” are just as acceptable.

There are several other social networks currently online that use Tor as well. These will be covered in future posts.
